Somalia: AMISOM Safety and Security Compliance Audit conducted In Mogadishu

Mogadishu (HAN) July 13, 2014:  African Union Security news update. The AMISOM Safety and Security Unit conducted a Private Company Security Compliance Audit as part of its mission implementation planned activity for the year 2014.

This Amisom safety and Security exercise, which is a continuous process, is to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment in the Adan Cade International Airport base camp (MIA) in Mogadishu.

The Local and regional contractors were evaluated basing on a wide range of criteria ranging from company uniform compliance, company identification cards compliance, validity of contracts, casual workers movement control, among others.

The Safety and Security Unit, led by the AMISOM Chief Security Officer, Col. Peter Chege Njoroge, conducted the exercise, in conjunction with the Provost Martial (PM), Contingent Regimental Military Police, and Intelligence Staff.

The team also undertook vigorous road safety programmes that included checking speed, driving licenses, as well as other compliances with road safety regulations.
