Prime Minister Hailemariam and President al-Bashir Agree to Enhance Ethiopia-Sudan’s Strategic Partnership

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 5, 2015. Public Diplomacy & regional Security. Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and Sudan President Omar Hassan al-Bashir  agreed to enhance the strategic partnership between their two countries. The pledge came during talks held on the sidelines of the third India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi last week.

The Prime Minister and President al-Bashir discussed ways to expand mutual cooperation and issues of strategic partnership. They shared views on development cooperation and regional development as well as on the efforts to bring about peace and stability in South Sudan and Somalia. Both sides  expressed their full commitment to work for lasting peace in the region.  Increased Ethiopian use of greater utilization of Port Sudan and measures to strengthen the tripartite agreement on the Nile River were also raised during the discussions.

President Al-Bashir emphasized that the Sudan would play a full share in maintaining development and peace building efforts in the region He also emphasized Sudan’s support and readiness to strengthen the strategic partnership.MFA
