Kenyan delegation arrives in Somalia to boost cooperation

A delegation from neighboring Kenya has on Saturday arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

Led by the Principal Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Macharia Kamau, the team met with their counterparts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Headquarters in Mogadishu.

The two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral relations between the two countries.

“The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received on Saturday in Mogadishu, the Principal Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Amb. Macharia Kamau, and discussed with him the strengthening of bilateral relations and ways to improve the prospects for cooperation.” MOFA confirmed.

Kenyan government via the Twitter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs account also confirmed that trade relations between Nairobi and Mogadishu were discussed without specifically mentioning the Khat or Miraa which is the biggest product by Kenya to Somalia but banned for the past six months due to coronavirus pandemic.
“Permanent Secretary ambassador Kamau is leading a Kenyan delegation to Mogadishu and were received by their counterpart in Somalia. They talked a lot about relations, business, and other issues.” Nairobi noted.
