ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 17, 2015. Public Diplomacy & regional Security. Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom met with Abdulkarim Hussien Guled, the President of Somalia’s Galmudug State Interim Administration on Monday (November 16).
The Galmudug President noted that instability in Somalia was a threat to the peace and development of Ethiopia and welcomed Ethiopia’s committed support to Somalia and to the fight against terrorism as well as in assisting in building a peaceful and stabilized Somalia.
He underlined the importance of having strong security institutions and an effective administrative structure in Somalia & Galmudug State in particular. This, he said, could help to free the region from Al-Shabaab and other anti-peace forces.
Dr. Tedros appreciated the efforts of the people and administration of the state in weakening Al-Shabaab and in working for political reconciliation. Dr. Tedros emphasized that Ethiopia would continue supporting efforts to stablize Somaliaw.
In addition to assisting in peace and security, Ethiopia, he said, wanted to cooperate in trade, investment, education, health, and other social and economic sectors with Somalia. MFA
