Ethiopia: WHO Chief Wins 2020 Bridge Maker Award

Addis Ababa: Director General of World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom has won the 2020 Bridge Maker Award.

Dr. Tedros received the 2020 Bridge Maker Award, from Prime Minister Erna Solberg, on behalf of WHO and all the health workers and caregivers in countries around the world, who have been on the frontlines of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bridge Maker Award symbolizes the power of partnership and solidarity.

He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Solberg, Health Minister Bent Høie and the whole government for making health a political and social priority but also for their response to COVID-19, and clear communications and engagement with Norway’s people during this crisis.

“In just nine months, the pandemic has changed our world in so many ways. Never in our lifetimes have the principles of partnership and collaboration; of compassion and kindness; and of equality and humility been so critical as they are in this moment.” he wrote on facebook.

“Let’s use the opportunity provided by COVID-19 to prepare better for the inevitable next emergency.” Dr. Tewodros urged the world community, adding “Let’s commit to building the health systems needed to serve all people of the.”
