Ethiopia: Turkish security court issued an international arrest warrant

Mogadishu (HAN) June 5, 2014 – Ethiopian security police arrested more than twenty people accused of plotting attacks in the country and suspected of having links to Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-linked Al-shabaab militants, Ethiopian security officials said today.

Government spokesman Shimeles Kemal told Geeska Afrika Online security reporter that those detained had been trained by the militants in Somalia and were planning a series of attacks in Jimma, about 305 kilometres (189 miles) southwest of the Ethiopian capital and where the arrests were made through special operations.

“About 25 people have been apprehended on suspicion of organising an underground terrorist cell,” he said, adding that “a number of weapons” were also seized and the suspects likely to be charged.

Somali militant group Al-Shabab member was arrested  Addis Ababa. The Al-Shabaab terror agent in Addis Aabab was suspected to be launching suicide terror attack in several locations in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa, according to the Ethiopian security Official.

Ethiopian police and security officials again  foiled Al-Shabab attacks in Ethiopia. The Somali-based Islamic extremists have unsuccessfully attempted to execute attacks in Ethiopia on different strategic locations to damage a major critical infrastructure assets in Ethiopia.

The Al-Shabab group has already succeeded to launch the same terrorist attack in AMISOM countries (Djibouti, Uganda and Kenya) . Last week the United States embassies in Djibouti, Kenya and Ethiopia have issued an early warnings towards Al-Shabaab terrorist plots to attack  western interests in the Horn of Africa, specially Ethiopian strategic locations. The United States embassies urged American citizens residing or traveling to Ethiopia to exercise caution.

Ethiopian Somali zone security officials have reportedly prevented a terrorist threat in the capital Addis Ababa, after a suspected Somali and Oromo Al-shabaab suicide bombers was arrested this week in Jigjiga.

According to the Security reporter, Geeska Afrika Online in Mogadishu,  Turkish security court issued an international  arrest warrant for five top Al-Shabaab  members linked to terrorist activities and actions.

The terror group memebrs, identified as Ahmed Abdi Aw-Mohamed -Godane (Somaliland), Sheikh Muhtar Robow (Bay-Bakool region), Fuad Mohamed Khalaf (Puntland), Hassan Dahir Aweys (Dhusa-mareeb) and Hassan Abdulah Hersi Al-Turki (Kabridahar, Somali-Ethiopian), are accused of ordering a terror attack on the Turkish embassy in Somalia, Mogadishu.

 

The Photo is Al-shabaab’s southern military group in Mogadishu elite member and was assassinated  this week, underscoring the continued threat of militants despite the  AMISOM and Somali army’s recent gains against al Shabaab fighters in Mogadishu’s  restive southern Somalia. Their special guns has sound suppressor or silencer, a firearm or air gun which reduces the amount of noise and visible in Mogadishu, Kismayo, Bosaso and Hargeisa.

According to AMISOM spokesman in Mogadishu, Sunday’s attack was the bloodiest battle that Ethiopian troops have been involved in since they crossed the border to fight against the Al-Shabaab zones in Somalia.

Local Somali resident Hassan Mohamed said, ”I have seen over 70 people dead mainly from the warring sides.” Somali National Army (SNA) forces, backed by AMISOM troops, have been battling against the Al Qaeda-linked group in the south and central regions of Somalia since March, capturing more than 10 towns from the militants.
