Ethio-Egypt Trade, Investment Doubles in Three Years

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 25, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Stability Initiatives News. The trade and investment exchange between Ethiopia and Egypt has reportedly doubled during the past three years.

Companies of the two countries engaged in metals and engineering sector had discussions today about ways of bringing quality production and transforming technology. During the occasion, Commercial Counselor at the Egyptian Embassy in Ethiopia, Waleed El-Zomor said economic cooperation of the two countries has been growing.

The trade and investment forum held earlier, market promotion and expansion, and the people-to-people relations have contributed to the economic ties of the countries, he elaborated. The aim of the discussion is to realize transfer of technology by sharing the long experience of Egypt’s Metals and Engineering Industry to its Ethiopian counterpart, El-Zomor pointed out.

Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations Deputy President Endalkachew Seme said the discussion would help to bring sharing of experiences and technology. Over 100 members of Ethiopian metals and engineering manufacturing sector have taken part in the discussion.

According to the deputy president, the discussion will create opportunities to work cooperatively to bring international competitiveness both in quality and technology transformation.

Activities of trade, investment, community forum, trade and exhibition, promoting and expansion of market and public relation are boosting the two countries economic integration. Some 14 Egyptian companies have also attended the discussion.
