Eritrea: Improving the Quality of health Services in Gash Barka

Asmara (HAN) February 24, 2016 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Stability Initiatives News. Concerted efforts are in progress to improve the quality of health services in the Gash Barka region, a public meeting held on 19 February in Barentu underlined.

Dr. Leul Banteirga, head of the Health Ministry branch of the Gash Barka Region, listed successes in the following endeavors: prevention of blindness, control of malaria infections and cross-border diseases, proper handling of medicaments, upgrading services at hospitals and health centers, improving mother and child health care, ensuring supply at blood banks, and reaching advancements in management of health services.Minister of Health Amina Nurhussein said that efforts will be enhanced this year to better equip health services and improve human resource development.

In related developments, representatives from the World Health Organization, accompanied by Minister Amina, paid a working visit to a mobile health clinic active in the Gash Barka region, which mainly targets maternal and child health care.
