Asmara (HAN) February 24, 2016 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Stability Initiatives News. The Assembly of Central Region held its 15th annual meeting on 19 February 2016.
In his address to the Assembly,
Chairman Abraham Semere spoke about broad grassroots participation efforts towards national development plans, improved administration regulations, land tenure and water and energy supply.
Secretary Eyob Hadgu listed the following as accomplishments in 2015: increasing regional revenue, improving tax collection, implementation of land decrees in all sub-zones, reversing deforestation, improving the water supply and restoring destructed roads.
Members of the assembly called for additional efforts to go towards tax collection, reversing deforestation and the improvement of domestic energy supply.
In his closing speech, Central Region Governor, Major-General Romedan Osman Awlyay, asked for the continuous grassroots participation of the people in every aspect of national development programs. He also assured the Assembly that there were relentless efforts by the administration to tackle outstanding social service challenges
