FATHER OF PEACE: Elman Ali Ahmed. Through our Drop the Gun, Pick Up the Pen initiative, we launched a pioneering intervention in the early 1990’s that has lead to the disarmament, rehabilitation and reintegration of thousands of young women and men who were being co-opted into clan based militias by warlords.
Elman Ali Ahmed was a Somali entrepreneur and social activist. Elman was the victim of a political, execution style assassination on March 9th 1996. “His murder has sent a chilling message to Somalis desirous of peace and normality.” –
