Dr. Tedros Receives a Courtesy Visit from JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 28, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Stability Initiatives News. The newly appointed President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Dr. Shinichi Kitaoka visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday (November 27 and held talks with Foreign Minister Dr Tedros Adhanom.

Dr Tedros welcomed Dr. Kitaoka to Ethiopia and wished him success in his new assignment. He emphasized that a close and enduring partnership between Ethiopia and Japan was a strategic imperative as the two countries had converging views on a wide range of trade and investment issues.

He expressed the hope that the historic relationship between the two countries would continue to strengthen into a broad-based partnership in the coming years.

Dr Tedros recalled the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to Ethiopia noting that it had helped reinforce the strong bilateral cooperation between the two sides in numerous areas. He had also been accompanied with the representatives of business organizations.

Dr Tedros expressed his confidence that Ethiopia and JICA relations would continue to follow a positive trajectory and stressed that he looked forward to working closely with the Government of Japan in general and JICA in particular. The discussions with Dr. Kitaoka also covered issues of FDI, trade and investment. MFA
