Addis Ababa University signs an MoU with Skövde University, Sweden

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 13, 2015. Public Diplomacy & regional Security. The Academic Vice President of Addis Ababa University, Dr. Jeilu Oumer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Skövde of Sweden, Professor Sigbritt Karlsson, on Monday (November 9).

The MoU provides for the expansion and promotion of cooperation between the two institutions with the view to develop academic teaching, research exchanges and other collaboration.

The areas of cooperation include, inter alia, the promotion of educational opportunities for students in both countries and the conduct of common doctorate level education in the areas of the thematic areas of bioscience, business, health, engineering and information.

The MoU was signed during the Swedish African Conference on Sustainable Collaboration between Swedish and African Higher Education Institutions which took place at the University of Skövde on November 9-10.

The Ethiopian Ambassador to Sweden and other Nordic countries, Ambassador Woinshet Tadesse, participated at the signing ceremony of the MoU and in the conference.

Representatives of Addis Ababa University and of Ethiopian Embassy in Stockholm participated in establishing networks with other Universities at the conference which brought together representatives from Swedish and African Universities from Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa as well as officials from Swedish authorities and funding agencies to discuss specific areas of possible collaboration.

The conference was jointly organized by the University of Skövde and the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education. MFA
