Tunisia thrash Djibouti in AFCON qualifiers

DJIBOUTI (HAN) June 4.2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security News. Tunisia beat minnows Djibouti away but yet to guarantee qualification for Cup of Nations finals.

Tunisia claimed an easy 3-0 victory at Djibouti to top their group in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday.

Goals from Naim Sliti, Hamdi Harbaoui and Taha Yassine Khenissi gave Tunisia the comfortable win, as rivals Liberia and Togo clash on Sunday.

With nine points, Tunisia are now just one point ahead of second-placed Liberia and two clear of third-placed Togo.

The Eagles of Carthage’s victory piled up pressure on Egypt, who will be looking to beat Tanzania on Saturday with the North African nations looking to finish the qualifiers as group leaders ahead of the World Cup qualifiers draw.

Tunisia host Liberia in the final group game, a match that could well decide who would book a berth in the Gabon finals next year.
