AfDB Pledges to Further Support Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 25, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Stability Initiatives News. African Development Bank (AfDB) said it would support Ethiopia in energy and infrastructure development.

While conferring with Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn here today, AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina said the bank is supporting the country in agriculture, water sanitation, infrastructure, and particularly energy.
The bank put sizable portfolio of 1.2 billion USD this year for these sectors, he indicated.

According to the president, the 14 agro-allied industrial zones to be developed in the country are very important as they create many jobs.
AfDB would therefore provide significant support to help the youth settle in agricultural business, he added.

Adesina also praised Ethiopia’s remarkable economic growth by 10.5 GDP. Prime Minister Hailemariam thanked the efforts of the bank in supporting the development of the country and noted that the nation has been utilizing the finance allocated for the projects AfDB supports.
