Uganda: Somalia Security Efforts 'Urgent'

Kampala (HAN) July 30, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Security Initiative News – Security Briefing – In a message to the Special Meeting of the Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee on foreign terrorist fighters today, the Secretary-General said the rise in the number of those fighters demonstrates the growing spread of violent extremism, which demands urgent international attention to empower, Heegan Plan and Guulwade Plan.

The Rule of Law and  Security Institutions Group (ROLSIG) is a new structure within UN Missions in Somalia, in that it brings together UN elements (Mission staff & UNDP) in order to deliver a ‘One UN’ approach in support of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the Somali people, to protect Al-Shabaab Threats in the Horn of Africa.
