Ethiopia: President Museveni in Addis for three days official visit

Addis Ababa (HAN) December 27, 2014 – Public diplomacy and the Horn of Africa related Security issues. President Youweri Kaguta Museveni arrived here in Addis Ababa yesterday (December 26, 2014) for a three days official visit to Ethiopia. Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalgn , Foreign Minister , Dr. Tedros Adhanom and other high ranking government officials welcomed the President at Bole International Airport.

Following the welcoming ceremony President Youweri Museveni and his delegation met President Mulatu Teshome of Ethiopia at the National Palace. On the occasion, President Mulatu commended the existing excellent bilateral relations of the two countries. President Mulatu appreciated Uganda’s contribution for regional peace and security with particular emphasis in Somalia and South Sudan. President Museveni on his part noted the historic relations of the two countries and underlined that it is high time for the two nations to forge strong cooperative partnership in economic and social affairs for the benefit of the two peoples.

Applauding the positive engagement of the two countries, the two presidents agreed to uphold the momentum of a closer cooperative partnership and explore new areas of cooperation, including health, energy, and commerce, and further cement the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.

Both sides also agreed to expedite cooperative partnership through infrastructural links as key enabling conditions for the effective promotion of trade and business ties between the two countries. The three-day official state visit of President Museveni is aimed strengthening the existing bilateral relations of the two countries into a new high.
