Ethiopia: Assessing Schools’ Readiness For Reopening

Addis Ababa – An assessment committee has gone operational to check whether schools are well prepared to start post pandemic educational activity, Ministry of Education said.

Minister of the Education Ministry, Dr. Getahun Mekuria said the country has been undertaking a wide range of preoperational activities to realize safe reopening of schools amid the pandemic.

The committee comprising experts from Health and Education Ministries, parents’ representatives is undertaking assessments to make sure required facilities and protective supplies vital to prevent spread of the pandemic are fulfilled in schools.

Committee entails schools to have classes capable of accommodating pupils as per social distancing guidelines, the Ministry said.

Both public and private schools which fail authentication of the committee will not be allowed to enroll students and start the leaning teaching activities, it is indicated by the Ministry of Education.
