Tight security ahead of Olympics Opening Ceremony

The stage is set as the countdown draws ever closer to the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games on Friday. Security is tight outside the Maracana Stadium as the city and the world gears up for showtime. Armed military vehicles and soldiers, holding rifles, patrolled the streets around the famous soccer stadium which will host both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Games. More than 85,000 police, soldiers and other security personnel will be on hand – over twice the force deployed during the London Olympics in 2012. More than 50,000 volunteers will be in place across the city to help wayward visitors.
