Experience Sharing Visits of Somali Officials to Ethiopia on Federalism

Addis Ababa (HAN) June 21.2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security News. IGAD Political Affairs Program in collaboration with IGAD Somalia Facilitation Office have organized Experience sharing visits of Somali Officials to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on Federalism from June 20-24, 2016. The programme entails visits to the Ministry of Federal and Pastoralist Affairs, the House of Federations, the House of People’s representatives, Oromia Regional State (Addis Ababa), Forum of Federations Office (FOF) and two days visit to Ethiopian Somali Regional State.

The Federal Government of Somalia has delegated sixteen high level officials from the Ministry of foreign Affairs, Puntland, Jubaland, SouthWest and Galmudug regions. The officials arrived in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on the 19th of June 2016.

The IGAD Special Envoy to Somalia Ambassador Mohamed Abdi Affey is leading the delegation and has thanked the Ethiopian Government for collaborating with IGAD to make this happen.

The State Minister of the Minstry of Federal and Pastoralist Development Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Mulugeta Wuletaw welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation to IGAD for organizing this visit and underlined the willingness of the Ethiopian Government to share their experience with the Somali colleagues. He also wished the participants successful experience sharing visits and expressed his hope that the sessions will contribute for the political process of Somalia.
