Ethiopia Set to Invest $150B in the Launch of Green Economy Projects

Ethiopia is due to embark on investing 150 billion USD in the implementation of various green economy projects over the coming two decades.  According to Kare Chawicha, State Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate change, the new target aims to reduce greenhouse gas emission, advance economic growth as well as create jobs for women and youth.

While noting that the source of funding will be government, the public, investors, and partners and from carbon trading, the State Minister disclosed one third of the total fund will be directed to the construction of low-carbon emission infrastructures. A study had already confirmed that Ethiopia needs 7.5 billion USD each year for the implementation of its climate-resilient green economy, he added.
