Somalia: President Abduallahi Yusuf has the final word
Djibouti (HAN) July 30th, 2008 - The current Somalia PM Nour Adde, sacked the  governor and Mogadishu mayor Mohamed Omar Habeb Wednesday on accusations of misuse of power and corruption, sparking a row among senior government officials, including the TNG President Abdualahi Yusuf , sources told HAN in Mohadishu.

However, Habeeb said President Abduallahi Yusuf has the final word on his dismissal.

"I believe the process of my dismissal is not complete...the final decision of my dismissal should be reached by the president," he said.

"The office of the prime minister can only propose and the president makes the final decision, " he told reporters.

A Yusuf ally told AFP that the president was unhappy with the mayor's sacking, he added "President Abduallahi Yusuf has the final word."

Habeeb, a former warlord, a member of CIA's regional  anti-terrorism units, who ruled the country's Middle Shabeele region before being ousted by Islamists in 2006, was appointed mayor of the violence-wracked capital last year.

Islamist fighters have carried out a deadly insurgency, mainly in Mogadishu, since their movement was toppled by Ethiopian and Somali government forces in early 2007.
