Somalia Yusuf Show us a Man of
peace, after He accepted Somali
lawmakers
Somali's House Speaker, Sharif hassan, said that Prof. Ali
Ghedi, Somali's prime minister, was the best chance for peace
and stability; he did not condemned a decision taken yesterday
by his Parliamentarians.
Mr Sharif Hassan urged members of parliament to vote
in favour of asking the other MP's to join Ali Ghedi's Federal
cabinet, to help him implement his plans for Mogadishu
settlement and to regain stability and Somali parliament to
leave Kenya As soon As possible.
Somali lawmakers had earlier in the day presented the motion,
arguing that Gedi and his government, were in office illegally
as they had not been confirmed by the parliament
Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf renominated Ali Mohammed
Ghedi as prime minister, who will meet the speaker of parliament
to convene a special session this week to approve the
appointment, according to the Somali presidential spokesman.
After the approval, the prime minister will immediately
announce a new cabinet and the whole process will be completed
within 15 days, Yusuf Mohammed Ismail, the presidential
spokesman, told us..
The Somali parliament on last Saturday passed a motion to
ouster the prime minister and nullify the cabinet, accusing
President Yusuf of violating article 49 of the transitional
constitution because the new cabinet was sworn in without being
submitted to parliament for approval.
A total of 153 members of the 275-member transitional
parliament voted against Gedi, who was first appointed as prime
minister on Nov. 3.
However, those who voted for the motion were not against the
president and the prime minister themselves, said a senior
Somali official, adding that they are not satisfied with the
make-up of Gedi's cabinet, which was formed in the Kenyan
capital Nairobi on Dec. 1, 2004.
Israel welcomes the peace initiatives
in Sudan and Somalia

December 1
3th,
2004 -The
diplomat said the Israeli government was working with the Kibaki
administration in the war on terrorism in the Horn of Africa.
" We are co-operating at all level and providing all kinds
of assistance including sharing intelligence," he said.
He said Israel was monitoring with keen interest the
unfolding chapter in the history of the horn of Africa.
Israel welcomed the peace initiatives in Sudan and Somalia
where a new government was constituted and sworn in here in
Kenya. "To us, peace and stability in the horn of Africa is
crucial to the success in the war of terrorism in this
region," he said.
On the bilateral relations with Kenya, he said Israel had
increased its level of technical assistance to Kenyan especially
on training opportunities to public servants. Senior government
officials led by Foreign Minister Ali Chirau Makwere are slated
to tour Israel next month to in this regard.
Israel's plan to relocate its Nairobi embassy has hit a snag,
with revelation that it was unable to secure a suitable
alternative. Ambassador Emmanuel Seri disclosed that none of the
offers they have so far received have met their security
standards and specifications.
" It's been a problem finding an alternative site and
now we have resigned to the fact that it may take quite a
while," he said during an exclusive interview at his
Nairobi residence.
The embassy, which is arguably the most guarded address in
the city centre outside Central Bank, is located at Bishop Road
that connects the busy Ngong and Valley road.
And unknown to many, it is also probably the oldest
diplomatic establishment in the country, much older than even
the independent Kenyan state.
Late President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and his Israeli
counterpart, Golder Meiyer, commissioned it on December 9 1963
barely 72 hours before the country became an independent state.

2004 -Ethiopia has moved
a step closer to officially recognizing the newly established
government of Somalia, which was elected three months ago at the
Mbagheti Conference in Kenya.
After three days of talks with the Somali President Abdulhi
Yuusf in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian authorities said they
'affirmed the Kenyan peace process' and urged it to
reach agreement with its opponents, which include clan warlords
and leaders of two breakaway regions of Somaliland and Putland..
The Somali delegation said it was satisfied with the response
of the Ethiopians, but when asked whether Ethiopia actually
formally recognised the new government, the Somali foreign
minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, who is now official visit in
Ethiopia said that recognition was already accepted by Melez

Message
from the Office of The Somali President Abdulahi yusuf
Djibouti (HAN) December 12th, 2004 -
We must work
together to make change happen faster, to ensure that every
Somali has a security, access to water and electricity, and that
all Somali's children have access to quality education.
We must work together to combat militia crimes and corruption
and make our Somali communities safe havens in which our
children can grow up.
We must work together to create sustainable peace and
security for the people of Somalia
through the rapid implementation of the Jobs Summit
proposals.
The Federal Government, led by a old generation of leaders,
led by Abdullahi Yusuf, will strive with all its strength to
ensure that these programmes are realized.
But all of this requires your participation.
