Ethiopia: ‎UK‬ Ambassador “Thinking about and understanding policy”

Addis Ababa (HAN) October 7, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Investment Initiative News. A four-day workshop, jointly organized by the Ministry’s Policy Research and Analysis Department (PORAD) and the UK’s Open University, under the theme “Thinking about and understanding policy” opened in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (October 6).
Professor Mekonnen Haddis, Head of PORAD, stressed the workshop would enhance the policy knowledge of young diplomats; and workshop tutors Dr. Graeme Salaman and former ‪UK‬ Ambassador to ‪‎Ethiopia‬, Myles Wickstead, said participants will be able to investigate the current policy demands of the Ministry.
It would enable them to contribute more efficiently to policy formulation and evaluation. Dr. Salaman said the workshop would create a favourable situation to participants to research, analyze, evaluate, and assess the risks and benefits in developing policy, and specifically foreign policy.
The workshop will include presentations from experienced personalities on issues of development diplomacy, recent trends and implications of Ethiopia’s foreign policy, Ethiopia’s relations between East and West, the process and progress of the democratic developmental state and other pertinent subjects aimed to increase the cognitive skill of participants and enhance their analytical capacity.
