Djibouti (HAN) November 20, 2014 – Public diplomacy and Regional Aviation Security and safety news. The Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa is enabling environment for a secure air transport service in Africa. A five-day seminar and research conference on African Aviation began in Addis Ababa Monday (November 17). The purpose of the conference is to discuss ways to strengthen an enabling environment for a secure air transport service in Africa.
The conference will also dwell on the African Flight Program which aims to reduce fuel consumption of air transport by using straight flight lines through increased coordination by African countries. Shimeleis KibreAb, Deputy Head of Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, said Ethiopia was selected to host the conference because of its share in the aviation industry and its long experience.
Shimeleis Kibre, Deputy Head of Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, noted that the conference would also provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences of other African countries. The conference is being attended by representatives of aviation authorities from all over Africa as well as major airplane manufacturers including Boeing, and international pilot associations and air traffic service organizations.
