Kenya: Growth Africa Calls for Applications to Accelerator Programmes in Kenya, Ethiopia

NAIROBI (HAN) August 16.2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security News. By Baraka Jefwa. Applications are now open for Growth Africa’s 2016 programme in Kenya and Ethiopia. This will be the 10th cohort in Kenya and the 1st cohort in Ethiopia. The application deadline is: 31 August 2016 at midnight.

Roseirene Githige, Head of Programmes, GrowthAfrica, via an email, sent to CIO East Africa, explained what the programme is about.

“GrowthAfrica is the region’s premier accelerator and we support post revenue early stage entrepreneurs in Africa who are ambitious, talented and committed to impacting society positively through their businesses. We work through making businesses investment ready and providing access to fully vetted local and international investors,” wrote Githige.

The programme is spread over 6 months in both countries. It is comprised of a 5-day bootcamp and 6 x 3 days workshops with deep dive business diagnostics, sage support plus ongoing support by our in-house team of facilitators and growth catalysts supported by experienced business leaders and entrepreneurs.

The programme provides a strong support on financial modelling and investment readiness culminating with exclusive access to vetted investors. Workshops are usually carried out Thursday to Saturday every 4 weeks providing you with enough time to apply what you learn and while keeping your focus on running your business.

“We are looking for motivated entrepreneurs in a variety of sectors, but of particular interest is agribusiness, financial services, mobile/ICT, health, education, water and sanitation, energy, manufacturing of affordable products for the BOP, innovative retail and distribution concepts,” added Githige.
