UN to extend mission in South Sudan amid renewed violence

JUBA (HAN) July 30.2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security News.The United Nations Security Council has voted unanimously to extend its peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. The 15 member council agreed to prolong its mission until August 12, to give diplomats more time to consider other options. The mandate was due to expire on Sunday. The UN says it needs time to consider sending in more troops to South Sudan as well as imposing an arms embargo on the country. It’s also sounded the alarm on more violence, this weekend in the southern states of South Sudan.
