Ethiopia: Japan Extends Support to Ethiopia’s Industrial Dev’t

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) July 6.2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security News.Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Kazuhiro Suzuki said his country would extend support for the expansion of industries in Ethiopia.

Speaking at the Ethio-Japan forum on industrial development held yesterday , the Ambassador said his country is ready to share its vast experience and offer technical support to industrial development in Ethiopia.

The role of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will also be maintained in increasing quality and quantity of products in the second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP-II ) period, he noted.

According to the Ambassador, the forum is vital in formulating industrial policies that go in line with the country’s economic growth.

Citing achievements in expanding the Kaizen philosophy in Ethiopia, Industry Minister Ahmed Abitew said the Ethio-Japan industrial cooperation has proven to be successful.

The Minister called on Japanese government to further enhance its support in bringing about better quality products in Ethiopia.

In related news, the Japanese Ambassador presented the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star to Newayechristos Gebreab, Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

It was noted that the Japanese government bestowed the Order on Nov .3, 2015 for his contributions in strengthening the economic ties between Japan and Ethiopia.

Established in 1875, the Order of the Rising Sun is the Japanese Government’s oldest honor.
