Somali Canadian Fighting Al Shabaab as a woman in Somalia's national Army

Ottawa (HAN) March 19, 2014 – Iman Elman has already contributed a lot to the Somali people, with Elman peace centre founded by her mother inspired by her father , lead hundreds of women out of a vicious cycle and into a virtuous one.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, Now she has join Somalia’s national army in order to fight against the persistent Al shabaab who have plagued the region for more then a decade. With her role as military commander committed to not only protect her country also helping change the societal norms for the better!

As a Canadian, Iman will always be in our hearts and we will always remember her support and contributions. Iman’s talents and commitment to empowering others especially the girls and the Somalia’s national army (SNA).
