Canada supports Ethiopia’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the UNSC

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) April 26, 2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security News. Canada has supported Ethiopia’s candidature for a non permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council. The announcement came today (April 26, 2016) during a review session of the 5th Bilateral Political Consultation held in Ottawa Canada. “Canada strongly supports Ethiopia’s candidature to the Non-Permanent seat in the united Nations Security Council and its role in Africa,” said Ms. Leslie Norton, Director General responsible for Eastern and Southern Africa at Global Affairs Canada. State Minister Ambassador Taye Atske-silassie who received the Canadian delegation at his offices, stated the two countries have enjoyed longstanding relations.

Ms. Leslie Norton also noted the historic ties between Ethiopia and Canada and emphasized that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries should further be bolstered. The State Minister briefed the delegation on the current El-nino-induced drought and Ethiopia efforts of mitigating the challenge.

He further said the international community should extend further support as pledged. The Canadian delegation described Ethiopia’s efforts of mitigating the draught as exemplary. Both sides reviewed the progresses of the agreements reached between Ethiopia and Canada during the 5th Bilateral Political Consultation in Ottawa, Canada held in early March 2016. They have agreed to further strengthen cooperation in bilateral and multi-lateral fora.

    Shame on Canada. How in the world does a country that kills and torture its own people be endorsed for anything?
