Dr. Tedros receives Minister of Commerce and Industry of Oman

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) April 11. 2016. Public Diplomacy & Regional Security NewsForeign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom received today (April 11) Minister of Commerce and Industry for Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy. Recalling today’s opening of the Omani Products Exhibition (OPE), as highly industrious and promising; Dr. Ali said he was glad to be part of the first ever Omani Products Exhibition (OPE) held outside the Middle East. Noting that the total import/export between the two countries exceeded USD80 million over the last three years, Dr. Ali however stressed that the two countries should strive for a more productive engagement in trade and investment. To this end, he noted that such exhibitions would serve as better platforms.

 

Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros, calling the two countries, “natural allies” appreciated the strong keenness Oman had showed to enhance strategic engagement with Ethiopia in commerce and investment. Dr. Tedros added, Ethiopia is growing fast and it is mainly through the enhancement of business ties with countries like Oman and other GCC members. Speaking on how to resolve matters concerning logistics, the Foreign Minister added, “The economy would not be competitive unless we significantly reduce logistics setbacks.” He reiterated the Government’s commitment to improve such hindrances. The two sides also discussed at length on e-visa, digital customs system, packaging and processing, horticulture, chemicals, steel, food and other issues.
