Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie Meets a Bangladesh Delegation

ADDIS ABABA (HAN) November 20, 2015. Public Diplomacy & regional Security. State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie met with a Bangladesh delegation led by Sikdre Bodiruzzaman, Director General for External Publicity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh on Thursday (November 19).

Mr. Bodiruzzaman said that his government was keen to open a diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa and establish strong bilateral relations with Ethiopia and reach out to the rest of Africa. He noted that Bangladesh appreciated Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth over the last decade.

Ambassador Taye said that Bangladesh’s decision to open a diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa, the diplomatic centre of Africa, would be advantageous to both Ethiopia and Bangladesh. Noting Bangladesh’s abundant experience in garment processing, the State Minister said Ethiopia could take lessons from this.

Ambassador Taye also called on Bangladesh businesses to invest in Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector and take advantage of favorable investment environment, duty free access to American and European markets through the African Growth and Opportunity Act) and Everything But Arms. MFA
