Somalia: Turkish Republic Day in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (HAN) October 31, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional Security News. Yesterday at the Turkish embassy ambassador Kani Torun with senior Somali government officials attended the Turkish Republic Day celebrations. Prime Minister Abdirashi Ali Sharmake, Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari and UN special envoy Nicholas Kay attended the function.  This annual event in celebration of the countries founding in 1923.

 

Speaking during the ceremony, Torun said Somalia and Turkey enjoyed cordial diplomatic relations noting that his country was focused on helping in the reconstruction of Somalia. He also said that Turkey will in January open one of the biggest embassies in the world. Turkey has played a major role and is looking to continue its development efforts in the future.
