President Al-Bashir of Sudan Reiterates the Call for Rebels to Come to The Negotiating Table

NAIROBI (HAN) October 28, 2015 – Public Diplomacy and Regional food Security Initiatives News. Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir renewed his call for rebels under arms to join in negotiations, pledging to provide the necessary guarantees to allow them to participate freely and present their concerns openly. The President who was addressing a graduation ceremony at the military academy on Tuesday (October 27) said the Government had declared a cessation of hostilities and offered rebel leaders the necessary guarantees to join in the National Dialogue Conference.

He said “we would continue to urge them to respond to the voice of reason and peace appeal”. Last month, he declared a two-month cessation of hostilities in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur; and granted a general amnesty for the leaders and members of the armed movements taking part in the national dialogue conference. At the same time, the President added, that neither negotiations nor dialogue arrangements would prevent the armed forces from executing its training programs and strategic plans nor take precautionary measures to get ready to carry out its duties.MFA
